I hate to say this but i am a smoker. I have been trying to quit for months now... Mark Twain said it best "Smoking is easy to quit, Ive done it a thousand times"... haha funny funny… for the smokers that want to quit, it almost feels like they are trapped in a box, They have the key, but refuse to get out. Its like a guy hitting his head against the wall, and when they ask him “why are you hitting your head against the wall?” he says “because it feels so good when I stop”… sounds crazy but that’s how I feel when I am begging myself to not smoke, and I light the next cig.
The average smoker is addicted not only to the nicotine in cigarettes but also the physical addiction. They move their arm to their mouth (to puff the cigarette) up to 250 times a day! Taking it out of the box, lighting the cigarette, putting it to your lips… all such a physical/mental addiction, and we love it….,.. That’s why they say “eat carrots” to kill the craving… Smokers, since they smoke at least once or more an hour, their taste buds are set at ‘normal’ when they smoke a cigarette. For instance, when I eat candy or sweets, when I have a drink that has flavor; even ice cold water, after I am done I want a cigarette. This is not because I desire the nicotine from the cigarette (I could have JUST had a cigarette), it is because my pallet in my mouth (my tongue) changed flavor, and the cigarette brings it back to ‘normal’. Then of course the after meal cigarette, how can you tell a SMOKER not to smoke after that... Or in the morning... its sad, but sometimes it’s the best cigarette.
When I am stressed, or am about to make an important phone call, or a good song is on the radio in the car or I just came out of a place where I cannot smoke; THAT is when a cigarette is the best…. It’s the Smoking of the cigarette. The nicotine is the escape goat, but the smoking of the cigarette is what I enjoy…. I think I got my point across…
I have tried to stop smoking with patches, some pills my mother got me, WILL POWER, Hypnotist (my buddy and I saw an ad in the newspaper and took the class together, when we walked out we both sparked a cigg…sad I know) All these things I have tried , when the funny part is when I finally smoke a cigarette after a day or two of going through hell and not smoking; I am screaming at my self in my head that I am dumb and I have no will power. If I could just Quit Smoking, Smoking…
My idea would be to sell a carton of cigarettes that are designed for the ‘soon to be EX-Smoker’ that they can smoke, and by the time they are done they will have NO DESIRE to smoke another cigarette EVER AGAIN. The first pack in the carton would be mostly a real cigarette.. We can have the flavors like menthol and all that so the ‘soon to be EX-Smoker’ can feel at home… But toward the last few Cig’s in that pack the cigarettes would gradually be mixed with more of a natural tobacco… The next few packs will have the same concept…(Slowly taking away the nicotine craving, but almost starting to control the physical addiction)… They would have just the mixture of nicotine cigarettes and natural tobacco, and more and more natural tobacco (no additives)… Then after a couple packs like these, the next pack of cigarettes will be more natural tobacco and dried herbs… like rosemary, coltsfoot, mullein, mugwort… Herbs that tastes good, and can actually have a positive effect on your body, like St. John’s wort: One of the best known herbs for promoting a positive mental attitude…Mixed with this natural tobacco… more and more the natural tobacco will go away and the cigarette will be mostly herbs… Finally you reach the final packs that have 100% herbs in them… as you get to the last pack, your mind and body are feeling like it has never before.. and you will probably notice your LUNGS feeling like they have been left behind during this life changing experience…. Now they say “Habits, when formed are to light to be felt, until they are to heavy to be broken”… The nicotine is the weight of the addiction, now that it is gone, the HABIT forming part is easy to stop…. And we will… The easy way.. We can QUIT SMOKING, SMOKING…
The carton comes with Valerian Root Capsules an herb that helps cravings (calms you down) and last but not least a complimentary box of Chamomile Tea… always relaxing…. By the time the ‘Ex-Smoker’ is done with the carton… They have virtually NO EXCUSE to keep smoking.. They had their fun, and its time to release the chains and be FREEEEEE!!!
